So we're in the midst of another heatwave here in Montreal and the days are at their longest.

Did you know that the longer daylight hours can not only improve mood but also cognitive functioning? I read an interesting experiment today showing that when people were exposed to broad-spectrum LED light they performed better on tests of attention, working memory and response speed than when they were in low-spectrum or fluorescent lighting conditions. I was surprised to learn that in broad-spectrum light conditions, people were also more efficient at recognizing emotions.

Sunlight is a huge source of broad-spectrum light and it's all natural of course. So maybe this is a good time to get outside and stimulate that melanopsin for a boost to your cognitive functioning!
